Group Rentals

Welcome to Camp Shaver!  We offer rentals of our facilities based on availability and season.  We are a facility that operates seasonally (warmer months), with our primary focus being on the summer program we run during Albuquerque Public School’s summer break. Camp Shaver is open to potential rentals in early May, and then again between August and mid-October (weather permitting).

We love our old camp and its facilities, we think you will too. However, it is important to know that we are more rustic and communal focused instead of resort or hotel style in our accommodations.  This means that we have shared cabins, shared dining, and communal restrooms instead of private spaces.

Our facilities currently include:

  • Housing
    • 11 open air cabins with up to 14 twin sized bunk spaces per cabin.
      • Mattresses provided, all other bedding is BYOB.
  • Dining Hall with indoor bench seating for 96.
    • Outdoor patio seating for 24 with a sunshade.
  • Communal Bathhouse
    • Male and Female sides each contain 3 showers and 4 stalls, for camper side.
    • Staff/Adult space contains 2 stalls and 1 shower each for Male and Females.
  • Kitchen Rental
    • 10 Burner Gas Stove
    • 2 chamber conventional oven
    • Single Full Sized Convection Oven
    • Microwave
    • Large Coffee pot and Hot Water dispenser
    • Pots/Pans Cooking Utensils
    • Plates, Cups, Serving utensils
  • Program Spaces
    • Grevey Lodge
      • Large building with open space to use for meeting or program needs.
    • Arts and Crafts room
      • Smaller meeting/program space with limited bench seating
    • 2 Sports Fields
      • Upper is sloped with more grass and is centrally located
      • Lower is flatter and smoother with smaller total space.
    • Marksmanship Ranges
      • Archery
      • BB guns
    • Ropes Courses and Rock Wall
      • 5 high Ropes Elements
      • 1 Rock climbing wall

If you or your group is interested in learning more about a rental here at Camp Shaver pricing will be based on what your particular needs are.

Programming spaces need to be operated by individuals (YMCA staff or renters) that carry appropriate certifications for that equipment.  All rental groups must carry Liability insurance and have the YMCA of Central New Mexico as an additional insured for the duration of their rental.
