2022 ANNUAL SUPPORT CAMPAIGN
During a World-Wide Pandemic, the Y shows up!
For over 105 years the YMCA of Central New Mexico has been serving the Albuquerque and Santa Fe communities. If we think about it, our YMCA began providing services around the time of World War I. Thereafter, our YMCA has endured the great depression, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, oil crashes in the 1970’s and 1980’s, the recent great recession of 2007, and now once again, fighting for its survival during the current COVID – 19 world crisis.
On March 19th of 2020, due to Governor’s health orders, all non-essential businesses in New Mexico were asked to cease operations. In compliance with Governor’s orders, the YMCA closed its doors to most of its programs, except child care operations serving our first responders and essential workers. As many child care providers were choosing to stop providing services, the YMCA decided a need existed. Once again, during a time of crisis, the YMCA stepped up to the plate to fulfill a need within our community!
The YMCA was called into action, and we are responding! During the initial stages of the crisis we offered child care services to essential workers and first responders in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Now, the Y is also operating Distance Learning Centers to help families in need. From infants to school age child care, the Y is doing its part!
But it has not being easy. The crisis has taken its toll on the YMCA, and we are fighting for our survival. Today, we need you more than ever before. The YMCA has set an aggressive goal to raise $1,000,000 to help the organization navigate the COVID-19 crisis, to save the Y and to preserve our Mission.
I am happy to share with you that thus far, we have raised $825,000, but we need you in order to raise the final $175,000. We are reaching out to you because in the past, you have supported our organization via special events and other fun activities. Unfortunately, due to health orders all of our events have halted. But remember, the need for services continues and we need your support more than ever before. If last year’s supporters can help us out by providing the same level of support they provided in 2019, we will reach our goal. Please consider donating to the YMCA of Central New Mexico the same you provided last year. If you can increase the level of your gift, even better! Beforehand, thank you for your support!
