The YMCA of Central New Mexico’s Y Club Before and After School Program transforms out-of-school time into meaningful opportunities for growth, connection, and discovery. Designed for school-age youth, our program provides a safe, supportive environment where children can learn, play, and thrive beyond the classroom.

As one of the state’s largest child care providers, the YMCA of Central New Mexico operates multiple early learning and school-age programs, all rooted in a commitment to accessibility, quality, and whole-child development. Our programs are intentionally designed to support children’s social-emotional, physical, and academic growth while fostering a strong sense of belonging.

At Y Club, children engage in a variety of structured and choice-based activities that extend their learning in fun and meaningful ways. Through hands-on experiences in areas like STEM, arts, literacy, and social-emotional learning, participants build confidence, explore new interests, and develop essential life skills.

  • Engage in interactive, hands-on learning experiences that promote creativity and critical thinking

  • Receive dedicated homework support from trained and caring YMCA staff

  • Develop social-emotional skills such as teamwork, respect, and responsibility

  • Explore a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including arts, wellness, and collaborative projects

Grounded in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, Y Club empowers youth to grow into confident, capable individuals while giving families peace of mind knowing their children are in a safe and nurturing environment.

Highly Trained & Trusted Staff

The YMCA of Central New Mexico prioritizes the safety and well-being of every child. All Y Club staff complete over 45 hours of state-mandated training, pass comprehensive background checks, and provide professional references before working with youth.

Staff also engage in ongoing professional development, including 10+ hours annually of Praesidium training focused on child safety and abuse prevention. This ensures our team is well-prepared to build positive relationships, respond to children’s needs, and maintain a safe, supportive environment grounded in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
