The YMCA of Central New Mexico CIT (Counselor In Training) program has a 25 year legacy of teen leadership development providing work experience in our summer day camps, work ethic development, age appropriate team work and fun. You can apply at the age of 13 to be a CIT and after three consecutive summers in the program you can apply to be Junior Counselor.
In this progressive program, campers will participate in required training which will include leadership training, team building, skill development and personal growth, all in preparation for possible future employment as a counselor. Although not required, CIT’s are also welcome to attend our Camp Staff Trainings.
CIT’s will be assigned to a senior counselor to shadow each week and will be exposed to an overview of the counselor experience by assisting in the welfare of campers as well as the preparation and execution of camp activities.
