Preschoolers – Taking on the World
YMCA preschool uses developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) and the New Mexico Early Learning Guidelines to assist with the individual development of each child. Besides the developmental curriculum, children in the Preschool Program enjoy many other YMCA activities – such as swimming and athletics – that build self-confidence and socialization skills.
The YMCA preschool allows children to engage in an individualized curriculum, introducing them to writing, reading, counting, colors, shapes, numbers and more. The preschool classroom is equipped with many discovery centers and sensory activities that stimulate understanding of their surroundings. They are encouraged to be creative as they engage in hands on activities that allow for imagination and questioning.
