Day Camp
Grades K - 6
At YMCA Day Camp, kids have fun while they learn how to make new friends, build new skills and grow in self-reliance. Studies show that under the careful guidance of trained, certified counselors, kids grow and flourish in positive identity, social skills, physical and thinking skills, as well as the important areas of positive values and spirituality. These concepts of independence and discovery come into play every day at YMCA Day Camp.
Super Sign up day is april 27th!
Spaces are limited and Camps fill quickly
The YMCA Knows Camp—We practically invented it!
Camping has been a long-established YMCA program, encompassing many skill areas such as environmental education, leadership, team-building, character development and sportsmanship, among others.
Weekly activities will include field trips and swimming, as well as an opportunity to participate in a variety of outdoor and indoor activities. At YMCA Day Camp, each day is a journey. With the careful guidance of our trained staff, campers’ eyes are opened to a summer a lot less ordinary. They learn core values that will last forever. They explore. They grow. And they have fun. And isn’t that what being a kid is all about?
Learn, Grow, and Thrive with Summer Learning
The YMCA has teamed up several partnering organizations such as APS, EmpowerMe4Life and the Isotopes Literacy Challenge to ensure that our camps minimize the summer learning loss that most children experience during their summer break. Studies show that on average children lose from 1 to 3 months in grade-level equivalency during the summer months. Loss varies across grade level, subject matter and family income. The YMCA along with our partnering organizations have added valuable and fun academic curriculum components to our daily activities that will help minimize summer learning loss and ensure that your child will Learn, Grow and Thrive this summer!
Safe, Licensed Program
The safety of each camper is our primary concern. Every YMCA Day Camp in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas meets very strict internal standards, and most have volunteered to become state-licensed. This means that YMCA Day Camps volunteer to comply with third-party oversight and regulation. This helps further ensure a safe, healthy and worthwhile camping experience.
Certified, Well-Trained Staff
Having the highest quality leadership staff is our greatest asset. Day Camp leaders participate in an intense leadership training program that emphasizes the care and well-being of campers, quality programming and building relationships with campers. All staff are carefully selected and screened to ensure that YMCA Day Camp has the best possible role models for your children. Among other selective criteria, all counselors are:
• CPR certified
• First Aid certified
• Background Check
• Drug screened and will be subject to random screens as well.
• Trained in child abuse prevention
• Adhere to a strict code of conduct
Financial Assistance Available to Qualified Families
Financial assistance, made possible by the YMCA Step Up For Kids Campaign, is available to qualifying applicants to ensure all families have access to YMCA Day Camps regardless of their ability to pay. Contact your local YMCA branch for more information. Limited funds available and are distributed on a first come, first serve basis.
