Aquatics

The YMCA of Central New Mexico’s aquatics program strives to teach more than just water skills. We provide both instructional and recreational opportunities for all ages, so participants can enjoy a lifetime of safe, and healthy aquatic fun.

Our swimming pools are places families and neighbors meet in an activity that live on in our memories. And our aquatic programs help the young and young at heart grow spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Whether your school-age child is a new swimmer or has been swimming circles around you, the Y swimming program offers a class that is just right for your child’s skill level. Classes are taught in a fun and positive environment by a qualified and caring swim instructor's.

Parent/Child

6-36 months

The Parent/Child program is a great way to introduce aquatic safety skills and water enjoyment to both parents and their child. These classes are designed to encourage parent/child learning and water adjustment in a safe positive setting. Parents accompany their children at all times while an experienced instructor guides parents in teaching their children fundamental safety and aquatic skills. The class is held in the shallow end of the pool. The Parent/Child class is a excellent opportunity for children to begin transitioning to the preschool program.
