Infant Lead Teacher
Under the direction of the Child Care Coordinator / Director and in accordance with the purpose, policies, and principles of the YMCA of Central New Mexico, the Lead Teacher is responsible for the direct supervision of activities for children ages 6 weeks to 1 years old. The incumbent will be responsible for meeting regulations as set by the Child Care Licensing & Certification Bureau of the State of New Mexico, staffing, curriculum development & implementation, and will oversee the day to day activities in the Child Care Center. The incumbent will also serve as liaison between the YMCA and participants’ parents in order to develop a positive relationship for both.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist Program Coordinator with development & implementation of the daily program and curriculum.
- Conduct day to day activities in the program including daily curriculum.
- Assist Program Coordinator to insure proper participation/staff ratios as per state minimum standards.
- Assist Program Coordinator in planning and preparation of a creative learning environment, establishing centers of interest, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Interact with children, treating them with respect and dignity at all times.
- Attend all staff meetings and training programs as required.
- Take responsibility to help implement “Character Counts” in all aspects of the YMCA curriculum.
- Follow the chain of command as established by the Childcare Executive Director, and assist accordingly.
- Help with general housekeeping duties.
- Assist Program Coordinator to maintain proper staff to child ratios at all the times and never leave children unattend.
Job Requirements
The incumbent will meet minimum Care Giver qualifications as set by New Mexico’s child care minimum standards. The incumbent will also have knowledge in the area of infant curriculum development, lesson planning, and age appropriate activities. The incumbent will also be a warm and friendly personality who is sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the program goals and objectives.

- Hours: Part-Time position
- Pay Rate: $8.00/hr - $10.00/hr
